“FootGolf is the new sport that combines the skills of soccer with the rules of golf"

If you can kick a soccer ball, you can play this game! FootGolf is a precision sport, in which players kick a soccer ball into a cup in as few shots as possible. The rules largely correspond to the rules of golf and players use a regulation #5 soccer ball at a golf course facility on shortened holes with 21-inch diameter cups in as few shots as possible.
The origins of FootGolf are unclear as they can be attributed to many countries or people at the same time, as early as 2001. The American FootGolf League in the US has grown the game to nearly 500 courses in 49 states, DC, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands. The first ever FootGolf tournament was organized in 2009 in the Netherlands and played by a mix of Dutch and Belgian professional soccer players. After this, many countries began to organize matches, events, tournaments, even national leagues and organizations around this game.
The rules are simple, just like traditional golf: Take a regulation soccer ball and kick it, one stroke at a time, into a large cup near the putting green on a regular golf hole. (Footgolf holes often are built into an existing golf course.) The player who gets the fewest strokes over the course of the game wins. Origins course will be a 9-hole course.
